Drytech exceeds the rigorous challenges of moisture management for mechanical airborne and ground based radars. The Drytech, Inc. Airborne Waveguide Pressurization System (AWPS) is designed to utilize ambient air in order to provide the radar waveguide with a pressurized, dry, contaminant free and deionized air source to eliminate the possibility of arcing and corrosion within the waveguide. The AWPS can also be utilized to provide an electronics enclosure or sensor pod with the same high quality air source to keep the enclosure free of contaminants and moisture frequently found in desolate operating environments as well as on various flight lines. These systems have been developed to create an initial purge of air at -60°C or better Dew Point, while also supplying a continuous flow of equal quality air in order to compensate for any inevitable system leaks. The Drytech, Inc. AWPS has a maintainer-friendly replaceable dehydrator cartridge specifically designed to ensure fault-free indication and ease of replacement. Each Series are available with an optional Built-in-Test (BIT) as well as RS422, ARINC-429 and Ethernet connections. Common Waveguide Problems

Static DesiccatorsThese tubular static devices provide protection to the sealed enclosures. They can be mounted through the casing of the equipment by either a mounting plug or alternatively a humidity indicator. Such an indicator will provide an indication of an unsafe condition, at which time the static desiccator should be replaced. Different levels of filtration are available. Humidity Indicator mounting plug combinations are available. /Asset/Static_001.jpg Valved DesiccatorsSimilar to breather desiccators, a valved desiccator provides protection for a sealed enclosure/container under ambient conditions but automatically relieves excessive pressure or vacuum build up during flight or air transportation and diurnal exchanges.Such units provide ideal protection for military and aerospace infrared sensors, airborne turret mounted FLIR systems and air transportable electronics and enclosures that require pressure relief. Units can be tailored to meet available mechanical envelope requirements and sized to accommodate various pressure/vacuum units can also be miniaturized to provide weight saving for UAV applications. /Asset/Valved-Desiccants.jpg Pipeline DryersDrytech manufactures a wide range of pipeline dryers (inline dryers) for the protection against moisture and particulate contamination. Our range includes heavy duty robust 316L SS inline filter dryers, to a low cost plastic inline filter dryer for compressed air systems. Custom solutions are a cornerstone of our business model. If you have any interest in a custom solution, please contact our engineering director, Matt Kinsey, 800-221-0208. Please provide us with as much detailed information as possible, such as envelope of space, affluent air dew point, flight hours, filtration rating, etc. /Asset/Pipeline_001.jpg SRFS – Regenerative DesiccantsWith the advent of the aerospace and defense industries drive for life cycle cost savings, Drytech is pursuing cutting edge and combination technologies to provide longer life desiccant systems. One of these technologies is in a self regenerating filter system.Drytech recognizes the need to provide a self regenerating filter solution for pneumatic precision weapons release applications, replacing the older pyrotechnic technolgy. Currently Drytech provides molecular sieve filters that dry high pressure compressed air/gas (up to 6000 psi) to a purity level of below 15 ppmv (-62°cdp). These filters are consumable and require change out over so many flights. The purpose of the SRFS™ is to provide significantly longer filter life through self regeneration, extending the life of a desiccant filter by up to 10 times that of an existing molecular sieve desiccant. This new device is targeted at airborne pneumatic ejection racks, which are replacing the older pyrotechnic systems, and cryogenic cooling units. Specific targeted applications are SBD, MPBR, LAU7, and LAU 127, ejection racks and IR cooling systems. The SRFS™ consists of a suspended binder-less zeolite compound which can be rapidly regenerated by heating and liberating entrapped moisture with minimal dry purge air. The device is integrated into a high pressure compressor system that operates at up 6500 psi and the filter provides dry air/gas at purity levels of < 2ppm moisture and CO2 to eliminate potential freeze ups at altitude. It should be noted that “regenerated” and “re-activated” are often used interchangeably, the two terms are not the same and therefore should not be used interchangeably. “Regenerated” desiccants are processed at moderate temperature and while they have desorbed the primary adsorbate (in this case, water vapor), other organic contaminants remain such as CO2, hydrocarbons etc. “Re-activation” is achieved only when very high temperatures, approaching the burning point of the adsorbent crystals themselves are used and all organics that had been adsorbed are burned or stripped off. Often also you may see “re-activated” or “fully re-activated” but to be technically correct, “re-activated” can only mean “fully re-activated.” Drytech uses the terms regenerated or regenerative to describe our product since we utilize the “moderate” temperatures of regeneration. /Asset/SRFS.jpg Moisture Adsorbing Polymers (VMAP)NEW versatile moisture adsorbing polymers protect tiny and complex spaces from humidity within optics and electronic equipmentVMAP is a blend of desiccant crystals suspended in a polymer which is capable of adsorbing moisture, odors and organic volatiles in sensitive electro-optical equipment. Many electro-optical applications requiring protection from humidity use desiccant bags or dry gas purging to protect the air space within an enclosure. The downside to these solutions is that applications are becoming smaller each day and these solutions are becoming less feasible. VMAP is ideal for applications with complex shapes and limited space as it can be molded into any shape or size. VMAP provides a rigid structure which can be readily fixed in place using fasteners, adhesives or other mechanical retention methods. The ability to mold and machine the material allows for low cost prototypes to be quickly produced.
Desiccant Breathers(2)Desiccant breathers are one of the most cost effective methods of protection for contamination control. Breathers are an integral piece to any fluid lubrication, hydraulic system, or storage tank. Breathers provide protection from moisture and particulate contamination in harsh operating environments. The best operations & maintenance practices focus on preventing contaminants from entering their equipment, rather than trying to remove contaminants after damage has already occurred. As most equipment and machines are designed to "breathe," protecting the inflow of ambient air is vital for protection and reliable operation. Contaminants and moisture will enter equipment as temperature, pressure, and fluid level changes occur. To prevent contaminents from entering your equipment, a desicant breather should be used. Drytech ZEOZORB desiccant breathers use several layers of high efficiency filters to capture particulates, moisture, and maintain ISO cleanliness codes. Drytech's unique ZEOLITE desiccant blend allows for extremely low relative humidity levels be maintained. Not only do our breathers protect containimants and moisture from entering your equipment, but many test results show that Drytech breathers will actually liberate water from within the fluids or chemicals being stored in the tank simply by having a breather fitted on top of the tank or reservoir. This dynamic is vital to maintain maximum life and performance of the lubricant or chemical being stored. Transformer BreathersDrytech Transformer Breathers operate as your first means of protection againt moisture contamination. Transformer breathers take the approach of filtering atmospheric air BEFORE it enters your equipment, rather than trying to take moisture out AFTER it has been introduced into a system.Inhale Cycle 1. Air will enter the base of the breather 2. As the air is drawn into the breather, the moisture is adsorbed 3. This dry air will then flow upward and into the tank or reservoir being protected 4. The very dry air will blanket the free air volume inside the tank and will liberate moisture from within the tank Exhale Cycle 5. Air will be pushed down through the top of the breather 6. The air will flow back down through the desiccant and out of the bottom of the breather Desiccant and Membrane Filter DryerWith the advent of the aerospace and defense industries drive for life cycle cost savings, Drytech is pursuing combination technologies to provide longer life desiccant systems. These systems use a combination of a membrane filter to initially reduce the dewpoint to -40°C, with the desiccator being used as a polishing filter further reducing the dew-point to the - 65° to -75°C range, where applications apply. This combination increases the life of the desiccant by up to 3-6 times its normal life depending on ambient conditions. Drytech will design and supply just the combination membrane desiccant filter or incorporate it into a self contained compact, robust and lightweight compressor/pump package to meet the rigors of military and aerospace applications. /Asset/Membrane-Filter-Dryer.jpg |
